Emilio Estevez – punk hero

Last night I saw Repo Man for the first time and it was not at all what I was expecting. To be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from a 1980s movies about repossessed cars and the men who take them, but this was kind of awesome.

Dark comedy, weirdness, an 80s movie’s take on punk, and Harry Dean Stanton doing what Harry Dean Stanton does best: kicking ass (in this case both as an actor and in character.) Also, Emilio Estevez plays a punk high school drop out and I loved him for it.

  1. Another good, kinda forgotten Estevez film–Maximum Overdrive, based on the Stephen King short story (geez, I think it was a short story) called “Trucks.” Check it out–it’s actually REALLY good! In an 80’s film kinda way, admittedly…

  2. Wow, “Maximum Overdrive.” I saw that at the drive-in when I was eleven. Yeah, I was all about some Emilio Estevez — “Men at Work,” anyone? — and Stephen King when I was but a wee bairn (that’s for you, Joyanna!), so this was a delightful combination. Though it’s been years since I’ve seen MO, I’m assuming it doesn’t hold up so well?

  3. You know, I haven’t seen it recently–been like at least…jeez! 8 years! My, how time flies!!
    8 years just flew by…

  4. Emilio Estevez – prick. Hahaha!

Speak yer piece, friend...
